For Immediate Release
PITTSBURGH, PA − Allin Corporation (OTCBB: ALLN), an information technology consulting company, through its Allin Consulting business unit, today announced integration and development services it is offering for the newly released Microsoft Office System.
Earlier this month, Microsoft Corp. invited third-party developers to tap into the Web services capabilities of Microsoft® Office System to create applications that would help enhance trading on eBay. The announcement highlighted sample code developed by Allin, which demonstrated capabilities for managing listings on eBay within the Microsoft Office System. This sample code is available for download from the eBay Developer site at http://developer.ebay.com/devzone/docs/samplecode.asp, along with detailed technical instructions for developers.
When Microsoft Office System was released on October 21, 2003, Allin had already completed several projects using beta versions of the products, including Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003, Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003 and Microsoft Office Excel 2003. Three of these solutions were highlighted during keynote speeches at four of the Microsoft Office System Launch events:
· New York: A tool for listing items on eBay, demonstrated by Microsoft’s Chief Software Architect, Bill Gates
· San Francisco: California Casualty Management Co. (www.calcas.com), a time entry and collection application
· Santa Clara: California Casualty Management Co., a time entry and collection application
· Sacramento: Gunderson, Dettmer, LLP (www.gunder.com), a legal conflict check system
Case Studies have been developed for both the time entry tracking system as well as the legal conflict check system. These are available on the Microsoft site, under Allin Consulting, at http://www.microsoft.com/resources/casestudies/company.asp?pageMode=4.
“We are very excited about the introduction of Microsoft Office System,” said Mark Cabot, Managing Director of Allin Consulting in Northern California. “It is much more than new features in Word as the Microsoft Office System provides a real development platform for quickly building applications that can be tightly integrated into back-end systems through the use of XML.” Mr. Cabot added, “Because these solutions are built on familiar Microsoft Office products that users are already working with every day, it is easy to see how such applications can achieve incredible efficiencies for the information worker.”
“Microsoft worked together with Allin Consulting to demonstrate the power of XML and Web services that will be available in the Microsoft Office System to the eBay developers community,” stated Erik Ryan, Product Manager, Information Worker Product Management Group at Microsoft. “The application developed by Allin demonstrated how eBay users will be able to maintain their inventory in Excel 2003 and easily list it on eBay, as well as display the items on a custom store front developed in FrontPage 2003.”
“The solution that was developed by Allin Consulting will lower operating costs by improving our payroll process’s performance, reliability, and data accuracy,” said Mike Ray, vice president and controller, California Casualty Management Co. “The new InfoPath-based solution’s data-validation capabilities will reduce the time spent correcting mistakes by up to 40 working days a year for one payroll representative.”
"Allin Consulting developed a solution using InfoPath 2003 that has offered us a more efficient way to collect, validate, and reuse information. It allowed us to automate the movement of data and eliminate redundant data entry which will save us time and money,” explained Eric Rosenberg, Director of Information Technology at Gunderson Dettmer, LLP.
