Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server 2007 helps organizations measure, monitor, plan and manage business performance in a continuous cycle of improvement. The Monitoring Server component offers dashboards with interactive scorecards and analytic reports that can bring together live data from a variety of business data sources. The Planning Server component provides familiar Excel spreadsheets experience but with an integrated planning platform behind it. Together they provide a set of performance management tools to align strategy throughout the organization to your critical business goals and objectives.
Objective The objective of the QuickStart is to develop a Pilot that will demonstrate how PerformancePoint can be used to perform business functions in one of these two areas:
- Monitoring and Analysis
- Monitor performance against strategies that apply throughout the organization, where each KPI or objective represents an organization-wide goal, such as operational efficiency, at different levels in the organization.
- Measure the effectiveness of the functional areas (such as sales, customer service, and finance) of an organization and carry out root cause analysis using analytic reporting.
- Planning
- Align top level plan and detailed budget, base the plan on key business drivers, vary assumptions and carry out easy re-runs and what-if scenarios.
- Create consistent business rules outside of ERP systems, consolidate from different business models, and manage reporting into multiple reporting hierarchies.
