Professional Services Automation Assessment

What is the Professional Services Automation Assessment?

An Assessment is not a sales call.  It is an opportunity for Allin and Microsoft to gain objective insight to your critical business processes and related IT platforms.  It is a one-half to one day onsite session facilitated by Allin, who will conduct an interactive session with key members of your firm that are interested in business process efficiency gains and higher employee productivity.

After conducting the onsite session, Allin will deliver a report with findings and recommendations to help you get the most of your Professional Services Automation initiative.  The Assessment will help you identify industry best practices that may be appropriate for your firm, identify relevant software tools and applications that could increase efficiency and reduce redundancy, and assist you in developing a long-term vision that meets your specific business needs.

The assessment will be customized to your firm’s specific needs, but will include many of the following topics:

  • Project accounting
  • Expense reimbursement
  • Project management
  • Project portfolio performance
  • Resource planning and utilization
  • Project portfolio reporting
  • Time tracking
  • Team collaboration

Would you benefit from the Professional Services Automation Assessment?

Are any of these questions relevant to your firm?
  • Do you rely on out-of-date processes to manage increasingly complex business relationships?
  • Does timesheet collection impact your invoice cycle?
  • Are there too many errors on your staff’s timesheets that lead to re-entry?
  • Does expense processing take way too long to complete?
  • Is it difficult to know if any of your projects are over-budget?
  • Is it difficult to keep track of your firm’s intellectual property?
  • How would changing a project delivery date impact other projects?
  • What kinds of projects are most profitable for my firm?

Professional Services firms have historically relied on a combination of manual processes and stand-alone applications to manage their business.  As the marketplace becomes more and more competitive and customers equally as demanding, it is increasingly more important for Professional Service firms to automate and optimize core business processes.  This investment will provide increased visibility and insight into key organizational performance metrics that previously had been difficult, if not impossible, to track.

Allin’s Professional Services Automation Assessment will provide you with guidance on how to:
  • Optimize your project portfolio - Compare and contrast projects to make the right project investments and understand your risks
  • Control project delivery costs - Control project planning and execution to increase resource productivity and reduce costs
  • Maximize employee value - Maximize the return on employees' and contractors' time and skills to increase utilization and value

What are the deliverables of the Assessment?
Allin will present our written report to your organization that will summarize the findings of the Assessment, including:

  • A description of your existing Professional Services Automation processes
  • An outline of areas for greatest ROI and suggestions for improving your business processes, and leveraging your existing technology
  • Positioning of Microsoft technologies that will help address specific needs and pains uncovered in the Assessment
  • A summary of the benefits your organization will realize with technology improvements and next step recommendations for improved efficiency and profitability
  • A list of the steps needed to implement these technologies to allow your company to move forward with creating a detailed implementation plan

What investments are required?

Only the time of relevant personnel will be needed during the Assessment.  Before the onsite survey, senior executives in your organization are expected to have approved the engagement.  Although encouraged to participate in these assessments, it is not necessary that these executives be involved in the assessment.

We expect that you will need to dedicate several knowledgeable functional experts proficient in your business processes.    A senior IT member who is knowledgeable of your current Professional Services Automation systems and supporting platforms should also be present.   The participants should be available for the duration of the on-site visit.

Cost

Allin and Microsoft will fund this Assessment, at no cost to you.  Contact your Allin Account Manager.
