ITV Technology for Healthcare
The healthcare industry is an excellent example of where ITV applications can leverage the familiar and friendly television to educate, inform and train both patients and staff.  Allin’s applications are specifically designed to meet the requirements of our clients.

The Allin system allows the user to control the scheduling and pace of the delivery of educational content.  This promotes an increase in the usage of the training materials as well as a higher retention of the information.  The system is designed with the ability to track usage and collect input obtained during patient surveys and staff testing to insure the educational message is received and understood.  The Allin system can also integrate with the Hospital Management System (HMS) to incorporate billing and information tools directly into the system.

This level of integration allows for targeted services.  For example, a patient can choose meal options from menus that have been specifically prepared by a dietician for their particular needs.  Educational content can be specifically targeted to the patient’s condition.  Studies have shown that when the patient is educated about their own particular condition better medical outcomes occur.  Well-informed patients make better decisions about their treatment options and are in a better position to play a positive role in their own recovery.  The Allin ITV system also offers VCR-like controls for users watching educational or training videos to increase the likelihood that the information will be understood.

Patient Education
Patients can learn at their own pace and convenience about medical treatment, preparing for surgery, new baby care, healthy lifestyles, post-procedure therapy, and other topics relevant to their condition.  Hospital personnel can spend less time on these activities and concentrate more of their time on patient care.

Staff Training and Testing
Hospital staff can manage their own continuing education by taking advantage of the system’s on-demand flexibility.  Staff can use the system as their schedules permit rather than being forced to limit their opportunities for training and testing to conventional training class schedules.

Hospital Infrastructure and Services
Patients can have on-demand access to orientation information such as the availability of in-house and neighborhood religious services, visitor parking, arranging visitor meals, personal care and grooming, gift shops, volunteer organizations and hospital history.

Food Service
Interactive TV has been proven to be highly efficient in helping organizations manage breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack orders.  The system streamlines the process of collecting meal requests and scheduling delivery, and can also be used to administer special menu applications for patients with specific dietary requirements.

Entertainment
The same in-room TV system used for patient education can also provide entertainment such as interactive games and Pay-Per-View movies.  Because each room is networked to a Windows based computer system, patients can be allowed to browse the web and access e-mail.

Patient Surveys
Hospitals can use Allin’s system to administer satisfaction surveys and collect patient information electronically.  Interactive patient response during surveys or other programs can verify comprehension and eliminate errors.
