A server virtualization assessment begins by capturing current configuration, performance, and environmental information then analyzing the information taking into account business requirements using industry standard tools and techniques to construct a recommended virtualization solution.
The server virtualization assessment will:
- Determine whether a server is or is not candidate for virtualization
- Provide utilization reports on selected servers, storage and networks
- Recommend a virtualization solution
Each assessment employs the following process:
Discovery Session: - Allin experts meet with key business and IT team members to understand the current datacenter environment, discover any pain points, and identify business requirements driving the need for a virtualization solution.
Monitor Existing Environment: - Monitor selected server performance characteristics using Windows perfmon counter information. The monitoring period should cover at least 4 weeks and should include periods of peak activity to insure accurate solution capacity is provided. There is no required minimum monitoring interval, however.
Analyze Performance Information & Create Draft Final Report: - Analyze performance information captured during the monitoring period. Design solution and create draft final report detailing recommended solution and summarizing findings.
Data Validation: - Meet with key IT and business team members to validate the observed performance information and review the draft final report.
Deliver Strategic Assessment Report: - Incorporate feedback from data validation session and present the final assessment report and recommendations to customer.
