Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) selects Allin ITV

The Challenge:
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), http://www.NCL.com, a wholly owned subsidiary of Star Cruise Lines, has the youngest fleet in the cruise industry with 11 purpose-built Freestyle Cruising ships.  In addition to on-demand in-cabin entertainment, NCL required an ITV solution on its newest ship NCL Gem that could encourage passenger participation in NCL’s “Cruise Rewards” future cruise purchase program.

The Solution:
NCL selected the Allin Interactive DigiSD™ ITV platform for the NCL Gem.  The DigiSD™ ITV system provides NCL guests with in-cabin on-demand movies (including the ability to “bookmark” a movie for later resumption), shore excursion previews and ticketing, duty-free shopping, and branded on-demand videos that explain NCL’s Freestyle Dining and Onboard Experience. In addition, Allin developed a customized “Cruise Rewards” module to explain the Cruise Rewards program and encourage guests to commit to the program right on their TV screen.  Cruise Rewards commitments and information requests are instantly forwarded to the appropriate ship personnel for follow up.  In addition, onboard future cruise staff utilize the ship-to-cabin messaging ITV function to remind guests of scheduled Cruise Rewards presentations and to encourage attendance.

Easy access to on-demand services provides guests with the information they want, when they want it, in the comfort of their cabins.  Guests enjoy the ability to seamlessly make reservations and purchases without the need to visit a desk or stand in line.

For NCL, the Allin DigiSD™ solution has increased passenger satisfaction and loyalty while also increasing onboard revenues.  The “Cruise Rewards” ITV module presents an exciting program at the best possible time—when a guest is enjoying a current NCL cruise—and acts as an additional NCL onboard future cruise sales representative, 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week.
