Allin helps financial services company migrate data after an acquisition, consolidating all information in a single system.
The Problem:
After acquiring another company, the financial services company needed to migrate the new, acquired data into their existing in-house billing system.
The Solution:
A one-time data load was done to duplicate the new data into the existing billing system. From that point forward, automatic nightly loads of new or updated billing information were initiated, providing the company with the data needed to invoice the current day’s activity logged in the acquired system.
The one time data load involved extracting live data from the acquired system into excel spreadsheets, and constructing programs to “scrub” and manipulate the data into a format accepted by the existing system. These programs then output SQL scripts (database programs) to load data into Wildcat. This required design sessions and data mapping discussions with the business. After the one time load, daily billing transactions needed to be loaded into the billing system. To do this, a program was developed to automatically send new and updated records to the system throughout the day.
The Benefits:
The company was able to de-commission the new billing system by allowing billing data to be fed into its proprietary system. The application allowed them to do so quickly and automatically, facilitating the acquisition process.
